Some of the most celebrated Bay Area restaurants and wineries are coming together next month for Montalvo’s annual Food and Wine Classic.
Now in its 13th year, the event is a fundraiser for Montalvo’s arts and education outreach programs, including its camps, workshops and Family Performing Arts series, which serves around 15,000 Bay Area youth annually in grades K-12.
Funds also go toward Montalvo’s Sally and Don Lucas Artists Residency Program, which brings more than 60 artists from all over the world to organize presentations and discussions, lead master classes in local schools and create outdoor sculpture and installation art on Montalvo’s grounds.
This year’s event takes place Sept. 11 and features cuisine from 21 restaurants and tastings from 22 wineries, along with live and silent auctions. A new feature this year is “Desserts at Dusk,” where guests will have an opportunity to sip espresso and after-dinner liqueurs and savor sweet bites by master pastry chefs and chocolatiers while mingling with chefs and winemakers on the veranda.
Some of the participating wineries are Artesa Winery, Cooper-Garrod Estate Vineyards, J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines, Silver Oak Cellars and Twomey Cellars. Among the restaurants participating this year are Alexander’s Steakhouse, Alexander’s Patisserie, The Basin, Kokkari Estiatorio, Le Papillon, Lexington House and the Village Pub.
The event is from 4:30 to 8 p.m.
Tickets are $250 for regular admission and $375 for the VIP package, which includes valet service, expedited check-in and VIP-only tasting of vintages by Mount Eden Vineyards.
