A 47-year-old man was arrested in San Jose Tuesday in connection with the robbery of a Santa Clara Citibank Monday, according to police.

Police said the suspect, identified as Garry Lee Damon, of San Jose, entered a Citibank at 3755 El Camino Real at about 12:45 p.m. Monday.

Damon demanded money from the teller and then took off with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to police. No one was injured in the course of the robbery.

Damon was caught and arrested in San Jose on Tuesday after a state parole agent recognized him from a bank surveillance photo and notified investigating detectives in Santa Clara.

The state parole agent informed detectives that Damon was being monitored with a GPS device as part of his parole supervision.

A check of Damon’s GPS tracker data revealed that he had been at Citibank at the time of the robbery. A short time later, state parole agents, Santa Clara detectives, and San Jose State University police officers arrested Damon in San Jose without incident.

Damon was booked into Santa Clara County jail on suspicion of bank robbery and for violating his parole.
