The California Highway Patrol is investigating a possible alcohol-related collision involving a taxicab and Amtrak train that occurred Sunday evening in unincorporated North Richmond.
The collision was reported at about 11:20 p.m. at Chesley Avenue at 7th Street.
CHP Officer Sam Morgan said that the cab was on the train tracks with its headlights off when it was struck by an Amtrak train traveling from Sacramento to Oakland.
Morgan said the collision caused the possibly intoxicated 54-year-old female driver to be catapulted from the car.
Morgan said the train was occupied with passengers but that none of them were injured in the collision.
The cab driver, however, was transported to John Muir Medical Center to be treated for moderate injuries, according to Morgan.
The cab was not occupied with passengers, Morgan said.
