The San Francisco Bay Area is expected to warm up this weekend and the National Weather Service is encouraging residents to take precautions to avoid lengthy sun exposure.

Meteorologist Brian Tentinger predicted Sunday to be the hottest day this weekend, with the North, East, and South bays experiencing the warmest temperatures.

Morgan Hill, Napa Valley and Livermore are predicted to experience temperatures in the upper 90s to 100.

Temperatures in San Jose are expected to reach 89 on Saturday and 95 on Sunday, before cooling off to 86 on Monday.

In Oakland, highs are expected to climb to 80 on Saturday, increasing to 83 on Sunday and falling to 77 on Monday.

San Francisco is expected to be on the cooler side with temperatures predicted to be 74 on Saturday, 76 on Sunday and 73 on Monday.

In Santa Rosa, temperatures will soar to 88 on Saturday, 93 on Sunday and 85 on Monday.

Tentinger said the atmosphere will be dry and muggy, but that a heat advisory has not been issued for any parts of the Bay Area.

Residents who plan to be outside are advised to avoid strenuous activities and drink plenty of water.

Residents indoors are being reminded by the Burlingame Police Department to be cautious when leaving windows and doors open at night and thereby making themselves vulnerable to potential thefts and burglaries.
