The San Francisco Bay Area is expected to get colder and wetter in the second week of December, a National Weather Service forecaster said Wednesday.
A cold front is expected to move in Sunday night, bringing with it rain and wind ranging from 10 to 25 mph, forecaster Diana Henderson said.
A drop in temperatures is expected around most cities in the Bay Area, which is averaging temperatures in the mid 50s to 60s this week.
Monday is expected to be the coldest day of the week, especially in inland areas and in the valleys, while cities around the coastline will be relatively warmer, Henderson said.
On Monday, temperatures are expected to drop to 59 in Santa Rosa, 58 in Oakland, 57 in Napa, Redwood City and San Francisco, and 56 in San Jose.
On Tuesday, temperatures are expected to fall to 55 in Napa, 56 in Redwood City and San Francisco and 57 in Oakland, Santa Rosa, and San Jose.
Temperatures are expected to climb to the high 50s on Wednesday.
Henderson said snow is expected in the Sierras and that there is a possibility the surf may pick up near the beaches.
She advised motorists to slow down and said, “If you can avoid going out, avoid going out.”
