Firefighters battling wildland fire near landfill

Several fire agencies this afternoon are battling a wildland fire near a landfill in Gilroy that has burned up to 3 acres of vegetation, a Cal Fire battalion chief said.

The blaze, which is burning near the 4700 block of Pacheco Pass Highway, was reported at about 1:20 p.m., Cal Fire Battalion Chief Jim Crawford said.

The South Santa Clara County Fire District and the Gilroy Fire Department responded to assist.
