A housing development to be constructed in Palo Alto next year will not only be in a convenient location, but it will also be affordable to many low-income families.
The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors approved a funding of about $960,000 to the Palo Alto Housing Corporation for the construction of the development, titled “The Tree House.”
“The Tree House project will provide much-needed affordable housing in an area that is out of reach for many,” Board President Liz Kniss said. “Projects like this help low-income persons to have permanent housing near work and school.”
The 35-unit development will be at 488 Charleston Road and will have units ranging in size.
Funding for the project will be drawn from the Stanford Housing Fund, which was created in 2001 to provide affordable housing near Stanford University per an agreement between the university and the campus.
