Santa Cruz police are looking for a pair of male suspects who robbed a convenience store Thursday evening.
Officers responded at about 7:35 p.m. to a report of a robbery at Circle Market, located at 508 Erret Circle.
Witnesses told police two suspects entered the store and appeared to be browsing before approaching the register. At the counter, the first suspect pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded cash from the clerk.
The clerk, a 49-year-old man whose name is being withheld, gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash. Both suspects then left the store and were last seen running west on Pendegast Avenue, police said.
Officers used a police K9 to search the neighborhood but could not locate the suspects. They did, however, find a wallet that they say might have belonged to one of the suspects.
The suspects are in their late teens or early 20s.
The first suspect was described as clean-shaven, wearing a black beanie or similar hat, dark blue sweatshirt and dark pants. The second suspect had a small mustache and was also wearing a beanie or similar hat, a dark blue or black button shirt and dark pants.
Investigators are processing a surveillance video at the store and ask anyone who witnessed the robbery or who may have information to call the investigations section of the Police Department at (831) 420-5820. Anonymous information can be left on a tip line at (831) 420-5995.
