The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority has presented a donation of more than $100,000 to the American Red Cross and UNICEF for their Haitian earthquake relief efforts.

The agency-wide fund Haiti Employee Giving Campaign brought in contributions from roughly 170 employees from all four of the agency’s operating divisions as well as from various administrative locations.

The drive was organized by employees Camille Williams and Jackie Adams following the 7.0-magnitude earthquake on Jan. 12.

Margaret Abe-Koga, a Mountain View councilwoman and vice chair of the Valley Transportation Authority Board of Directors, expressed gratitude for the employees at a ceremonial presentation of the donation in San Jose on Friday.
