Two people were seriously injured early this morning in a three-vehicle crash in San Martin.

A 72-year-old Morgan Hill woman going south on Monterey Road in a 2001 Hyundai collided with a big-rig that was making a U-turn just north of San Martin Avenue at about 5:45 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

The woman and her 31-year-old passenger were both flown to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center with major injuries.

A 2004 GMC also collided with the trailer of the big-rig, and the driver, a 57-year-old Morgan Hill man, had complaints of pain. He was transported to San Jose Regional Medical Center.

The driver of the big-rig, a 47-year-old Nipomo man, was not injured.

The CHP is investigating the crash but has determined alcohol and drugs did not play a role.
