Fire crews responded to a two-alarm blaze at an apartment building in Mountain View early this morning, according to the Mountain View Fire Department.
A 911 caller reported a fire at 2320 California St. shortly before 1 a.m. Arriving firefighters found both a car and a stairway leading from the carport to the second-story apartments on fire.
Some of the building’s occupants were trapped on balconies, according to the Fire Department.
Firefighters worked quickly to bring the fire under control and limit the amount of damage to the apartment units. The Mountain View Police Department, Palo Alto Fire Department and Santa Clara County Fire Department assisted in the effort.
One resident suffered minor injuries while evacuating the building and was treated at the scene by paramedics.
The American Red Cross provided assistance to residents of the complex who were displaced.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
