Police identified 48-year-old San Jose resident Wanda Juanita Daniel as the victim of a fatal solo-vehicle crash in San Jose this morning.
Officers responded to a report of a fatal crash at about 7:20 a.m. in the 800 block of Branham Lane near Pearl Avenue, police spokesman Dirk Parsons said.
Witnesses told officers Daniel was driving a green Honda CR-V west on Branham Lane from Pearl Avenue when she suddenly veered toward the center divider before making an abrupt right turn across three lanes and striking five parked cars and a chain-link fence, Parsons said.
She was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead.
Daniel was the sole occupant in the Honda and there were no occupants in the five parked vehicles, Parsons said.
There was no indication that drugs or alcohol was involved, Parsons said. Investigators believe Daniel may have experienced a medical emergency.
All lanes on Branham Lane at Pearl Avenue have since reopened.
