All lanes of Interstate Highway 880 in Milpitas have been reopened following a fatal crash this afternoon involving two motorcyclists, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The crash happened at about 1:25 p.m. on southbound Highway 880 at Montague Expressway, Officer Peter Van Eckhardt said.
One person died at the scene and another was transported to San Jose Regional Medical Center with a broken leg, arm and ribs, Van Eckhardt said. Both were part of a group of Swedish motorcyclists, he said.
A Sig-alert was issued at 1:41 p.m. and canceled at 4:12 p.m.
The crash initially resulted in the closure of all southbound lanes and San Jose police assisted with traffic control.
