The Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office has identified a man found dead in a pond Sunday afternoon at Los Gatos Creek Park in Campbell as 69-year-old San Jose resident Curtis Breckenridge.

A woman was taking a walk on the Los Gatos Creek trail when she came upon Breckenridge’s body sometime between 12:15 p.m. and 12:30 p.m., police Capt. David Dehaan said.

Responding police and park rangers confirmed he was dead.

The cause of his death has not been determined, but Dehaan said it appears Breckenridge slipped down an embankment and fell into the pond.

His wife told police he liked to take walks along the ponds and look at wildlife. She went to the park Sunday to look for him when he failed to return from his morning walk, Dehaan said.
