Firefighters have controlled a two-alarm vegetation fire that burned about five acres in East San Jose this afternoon, fire Capt. Chuck Rangel said.
The fire was reported at about 3:05 p.m. near Mount Pleasant and Clayton roads, Rangel said. It was brought under control at 4:47 p.m.
The blaze threatened about a dozen homes at the top of the hill, and firefighters evacuated the residents of those homes, he said.
The fire got within 20 feet of a home, but firefighters stopped it from spreading, Rangel said.
One firefighter was transported to a hospital with an arm injury, Rangel said.
Cal Fire assisted by providing 18 units and three planes.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
