Oregon man dies in fatal motorcycle crash Thursday

A 60-year-old Oregon man died in a motorcycle crash on southbound Interstate Highway 280 in San Jose Thursday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The victim, whose name has not yet been released, was merging onto Highway 280 at Meridian Avenue at about 8:25 p.m. when his Harley-Davidson struck a dirt patch area, CHP Officer Lawrence Colon said.

The impact caused him to lose control and go flying off of the motorcycle, Colon said.

He was transported to a hospital where he died from a head injury.
