Police are investigating a gang-related stabbing in Gilroy Friday night involving a teenage boy.
The stabbing occurred around 6 p.m. in the 500 block of Stoney Court, according to police.
Witnesses told police that suspected Norteno gang members approached a 14-year-old boy and his friends in a car and asked them about their gang affiliation, police said.
The occupants then got out of the car and chased the victim and his friends. One suspect caught up to the victim and stabbed him while another struck him with either a wooden stick or club, police said.
Officers found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was transported to Saint Louise Regional Hospital and then flown to a trauma center for treatment.
As of 10 p.m., the victim was reportedly in stable condition and was expected to fully recover, police said.
