Actor George Clooney and author John Prendergast will give a talk tonight at Stanford University about the challenges facing Sudan.
Clooney and Prendergast have launched a campaign to raise awareness about a Jan. 9, 2011, referendum in which the Sudanese people will vote on whether Southern Sudan should become an independent nation.
The activists will discuss the current situation in Sudan and what the international community can do to help.
Clooney has been an outspoken advocate for Sudan, and Prendergast is a co-founder of the Enough Project and author of “The Enough Moment: Fighting to End Africa’s Worst Human Rights Crimes.”
Tonight’s forum, titled “Sudan: Preventing the Next War,” will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Cubberley Auditorium, 485 Lasuen Mall.
The event is sold out.
