The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating what caused the engine of a small corporate jet to malfunction on its way to Mineta San Jose International Airport this morning.

The pilot of a Canadair CL60 declared an emergency due to an inoperable right engine and diverted the plane to Sacramento International Airport at about 5:45 a.m., FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said.

The jet had departed from Tucson, Ariz., for Vancouver, British Columbia, this morning, Gregor said.

David Vossbrink, a spokesman for Mineta San Jose International Airport, said the plane was scheduled to make a stop in San Jose.

Two people were on board the jet and were not injured, Sacramento airport spokeswoman Karen Doron said.
