Imposter claims to collect donations for Children’s Hospital

By Khalida Sarwari

Children’s Hospital and Research Center Oakland staff are advising residents in the East Bay today to be cautious of an imposter who is going door-to-door claiming to collect donations for the hospital.

The hospital’s media relations director Diana Yee said the man identifies himself as a student at University of California at Berkeley and displays a laminated certificate as “proof” of his legitimacy.

He claims he is raising money for the hospital through the sale of books and magazines, Yee said.

Yee said the hospital does not raise donations via door-to-door sales but donations are accepted online at www.childrenshospitaloakland.org.
