Classes are being held as scheduled today at Stanford University, where an early morning blackout had campus officials considering cancellations, a campus spokesman said.
The campus experienced a blackout at about 5:20 a.m., but power was restored shortly before 10 a.m., university spokesman Jack Hubbard said.
He said late this morning that it was possible some buildings were still without power, but that the outage had not resulted in any class
cancellations.
PG&E crews were still working to restore power at the Stanford Linear Accelerator. Hubbard did not have estimate as to when the accelerator would begin operating again.
Stanford Hospital and Clinics is not experiencing any problems, Hubbard said. The hospital uses generators when a power outage occurs, he said.
Campus officials are keeping an eye on the additional storms approaching the Bay Area.
“We have an operations center and we’re monitoring the situation very carefully,” Hubbard said. “Basically we’re in a planning mode for tonight, tomorrow and especially tomorrow night.”
