A crash at Story Road and Capitol Expressway in San Jose sent two people to the hospital late this morning, Officer Jose Garcia said.

The accident, which involved two red Ford pickup trucks, was reported at about 11:25 a.m.

A male driver in one pickup and a female passenger in the other complained of pain and were taken to a hospital, Garcia said.

The pickup that caused the crash was traveling east on Story Road in the No. 2 lane when the driver decided to make U-turn at the intersection, Garcia said. As he was making the turn, he crashed into the second pickup, which was headed south on Capitol Expressway.

Police have determined that alcohol was not a factor in the crash. The drivers were both cited for driving with a suspended license. The driver of the truck that caused the crash was also cited for making an unlawful U-turn, Garcia said.

Two lanes of westbound Story Road and two southbound lanes of Capitol Expressway were closed after the accident but reopened at about 1:45 p.m.
