Owners of cats and dogs can take their four-legged friends to be spayed and neutered for free today at a San Francisco animal shelter.
A large mobile surgical unit referred to as the “Go Nuts” van will be parked all day in front of San Francisco Animal Care & Control, located at 1200 15th St.
The event was organized by the San Francisco Animal Care & Control, the Bay Humane Friends and the Peninsula Humane Society as part of the 16th Annual Spay Day, which aims to heighten awareness of pet overpopulation in the U.S.
Animal shelters receive millions of pets each year, according to the San Francisco Department of Animal Care & Control. Since Spay Day’s inception in 1995, more than 1.4 million animals have been spayed and neutered through the national program.
