Pedestrian killed Saturday night identified

The Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office has identified a pedestrian who was struck and killed by a minivan in San Jose on Saturday night as Martha Gomez.

Gomez, 51, was hit by a 1996 Dodge Caravan around 9:45 p.m. on southbound Monterey Highway, between Old Tully and Umbarger roads, according to police.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the minivan, a 50-year-old San Jose woman, stopped and was questioned by police.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
