Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man who was struck and killed by an SUV in San Jose on Tuesday evening.
At about 8:35 p.m., Keith Lusk, a 23-year-old San Jose resident, was walking east across Monterey Highway below the Bernal Road overcrossing when he was struck by a white 1998 Ford Explorer traveling north, according to police.
Lusk was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the SUV, identified as Danny Thomas, a 63-year-old San Jose resident, remained at the scene, police said. He was questioned and released without charges, according to police.
Investigators suspect Lusk may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision, according to police.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
