Santa Cruz County sheriff’s detectives today released video footage of a man they suspect called a PG&E facility in Live Oak and made a bomb and shooting threat.
Deputies responded at about 8:10 a.m. this morning to a report of a bomb threat at the PG&E facility located at 615 Seventh Ave.
Someone from PG&E reported that an unknown man had called and said there was a bomb at the facility and that someone was going to shoot employees at that location, the sheriff’s office said.
Upon arrival, deputies helped evacuate about 55 PG&E employees. After combing through the facility and not finding any trace of a bomb, employees were allowed to go back to work at about 9:15 a.m.
Authorities were able to trace the phone call to a payphone in the 2-1600 block of East Cliff Drive in Santa Cruz. A nearby liquor store captured video of a man using the phone at the time of the bomb threat call to PG&E.
He appears to be a white man in his 50s, with gray hair. He was depicted wearing a dark jacket.
The sheriff’s office is releasing the video in hopes of identifying the man.
Anyone who can identify the man or who has information about the case is asked to call the investigations unit at (831) 454-2311 or (831) 471-1121.
