Fatal crash victim identified as Southern California man

The Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office today identified a man who died in a crash on Interstate Highway 280 near Palo Alto on Friday night as 58-year-old Renzo Paul Rossi.

The crash occurred at about 10:15 p.m. Friday on southbound Highway 280 north of Page Mill Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Rossi, of Canoga Park, was driving a 1991 Toyota Camry south on the highway when, for unknown reasons, he went off the right side of the roadway and hit a metal guardrail, the CHP said.

Palo Alto firefighters responded and pronounced Rossi dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
