Woman shot during robbery at Subway on East El Camino Real

The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety is investigating a robbery at a Subway on East El Camino Real on Tuesday night in which a clerk was shot.

The robbery happened around 10 p.m. at a Subway sandwich shop located at 605 E. El Camino Real, according to Capt. Dave Verbrugge.

He said a woman walked into the business and demanded money from the clerk. The suspect took the money and shot the clerk once in the upper torso, Verbrugge said.

The clerk was transported to a hospital, where she is expected to recover from her injury.

The suspect fled on foot north on South Fair Oaks Avenue, Verbrugge said.

She was described as an either Hispanic or Pacific Islander woman in her early 20s.
