Police today identified a man who was shot to death last week in San Jose as John Nguyen.

Nguyen, a 19-year-old San Jose resident, was shot around 3:10 a.m. on Tuesday in the 1200 block of Oxton Drive, according to police.

The suspects fled the scene before officers arrived and are still at-large, police said.

That same morning, three gunshot victims who detectives believe were connected to the shooting in which Nguyen was killed walked into a hospital. The victims, which included an 18-year-old man, 18-year-old woman and 17-year-old boy, were all treated and released. All three are San Jose residents.

Detectives said the shooting occurred at a gathering inside the garage of a home all four victims had visited earlier that evening. One or more suspects who have not yet been identified walked up to the garage and opened fire, fatally striking Nguyen.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call police at (408) 277-5283 or the anonymous tip line at (408) 947-7867 or visit http://svcrimestoppers.org/.
