San Jose police are continuing to look for a gunman who shot a man while he was pumping gas at a Chevron gas station in San Jose’s Willow Glen neighborhood this morning then carjacked a different person an hour later, a police spokesman said.
The carjacking occurred around noon at The Plant shopping center at Monterey Road and Curtner Avenue, police Sgt. Jason Dwyer said.
Dwyer said the suspect drove to the shopping center in a stolen vehicle, attacked a second victim and took his car, which was described as a white early-90s Toyota Camry.
The carjacking victim is unaccounted for, Dwyer said. He said the suspect might have taken the victim with him.
The shopping center is about a mile away from the Chevron station on Lincoln Avenue where, at about 10 a.m., the suspect walked up to a different man while he was pumpination on Lincoln Avenue where, at about 10 a.m., the suspect walked up to a different man while he was pumping gas in his car, produced a handgun and fired at least one round, striking the man.
The victim, who appears to be in his 30s, was transported to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center where, as of 2:30 p.m. he was still being treated, Dwyer said. He is expected to survive.
The suspect fled afterward in a stolen vehicle that police later recovered, Dwyer said.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation, according to Dwyer, who said it might have been during a robbery.
