The San Francisco Bay Area will experience the dual nature of spring in the upcoming days with cold and wet weather expected this weekend before warming up again early next week, a National Weather Service forecaster said today.

Up to half an inch of rain will hit the Bay Area beginning Saturday afternoon and rain is expected to persist all day Sunday, forecaster Diana Henderson said. A slight chance of rain is anticipated on Monday.

Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 50s on Saturday, mid to low 50s on Sunday and will gradually increase into the 60s early next week, according to Henderson.

Temperatures in the mid to high 50s are anticipated in San Francisco this weekend and will increase to the upper 60s by Tuesday.

In Santa Rosa, temperatures in the high 50s are anticipated and expected to climb up to the lower 70s by Tuesday.

San Jose will experience temperatures in the high 50s and lower 60s this weekend, but is expected to be in the mid 60s by Tuesday.

Henderson said there is a possibility of a light dusting of snow on the highest peaks of Mount Tamalpais and Mount Diablo.
