Hillsdale Avenue in San Jose is closed this afternoon as police are attempting to make contact with an armed man who barricaded himself inside a residence, according to the Police Department.
Officers responded to a disturbance call at about 5 a.m. in the 1700 block of Hillsdale Avenue, police Sgt. Ronnie Lopez said.
Upon arrival, officers determined that a 32-year-old man was inside a home with a firearm and he was threatening to kill himself, Lopez said.
Shortly after officers established a perimeter around the residence, a gunshot went off. Officers could not determine if the man had shot himself.
Lopez said there were no hostages inside the residence as of about 3:15 p.m.
