By Khalida Sarwari

Los Gatos-based Eating Disorders Resource Center has launched its fourth annual “Every Body’s Beautiful” essay contest and is inviting middle and high school students in Silicon Valley to participate.

The contest, open to girls and boys in grades 6-12, seeks to promote healthy body image and media literacy among students.

Entrants are asked to answer, in 500 words or less, one or more of three questions: What do you love about yourself? Why should others love and accept themselves? How does the mass media affect your body image?

Essays should be typed in 12-point font and double-spaced. They must also include the name, grade level, school, email address and telephone number of the author.

The top three essays from both age categories will win six cash prizes of up to $300.

Completed essays must be emailed to beauty@edrcsv.org by March 22.

For more information or questions, email info@edrcsv.org or call 408.356.1212.
