The Saratoga Hindu Temple and Community Center celebrated its Hindu New Year event on April 21 at the St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church in Saratoga.
The event was free and attended by about 250 people and featured a community potluck, entertainment and gourmet mithais–sweet milk-based treats.
The event was attended by Saratoga City Councilman Chuck Page, Congressional candidate Ro Khanna and state Sen. Jim Beall.
“I had a wonderful time at the Hindu New Year celebration. Seeing parents and their children enjoying this important holiday together with music and dance was heartwarming,” Beall said. “It is truly a celebration that Saratoga’s growing Hindu community, as well as the rest of Silicon Valley, can take pride in.”
