Local rummage sale to benefit Cancer Society

Cancer survivors and supporters will once again converge upon the St. Andrew’s Field this summer to help stamp out the disease as part of the ninth annual Relay for Life.

Organizers are planning a series of fundraising events ahead of the community event on July 19.

On June 21, a multi-team rummage sale will be held in the parking lot of Sacred Heart Church, 13716 Saratoga Ave., with 100 percent of the proceeds raised that day to be donated to the American Cancer Society.

Ride for Life, a 62-mile bike ride, takes place June 28. Again, all proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society. For more information about this event, visit ACSRideForLife.com.

As of mid-June, 16 teams comprised of 36 participants had signed for the event.

Relay for Life “is a celebration of hope, a story about the resiliency of the human spirit and a loving remembrance of those we loved who lost their battle with cancer,” said the event’s 2014 chairwoman, Debbie Manser.
