By Khalida Sarwari

Robert Schiro, who is suspected of leaving a restaurant drunk and driving home, striking another car on the way and knocking down his own wrought-iron gate with his car while on probation, is scheduled for a bail hearing on Aug. 19.

The Saratoga resident faces charges of DUI, hit-and-run causing property damage, driving without a driver’s license and violating his probation.

Schiro’s initial bail hearing on July 31 was postponed and his bail was set at $250,000, according to Marina Mankaryous, a prosecutor in the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office who’s been assigned to the case.

The new hearing will be on Aug. 19 at 1:30 p.m. in Dept. 40.
