An 83-year-old Saratoga woman came home last week to find two people running off with a box containing her husband’s ashes. She says she’s not interested in pressing charges; she just wants the box and the ashes returned.
The sheriff’s office received a report about the interrupted burglary around 11:35 a.m. on Sept. 25 at a house in the 10000 block of Howen Drive.
The resident said she had just arrived home when she noticed two young males run away from the house and jump into a cream-colored four-door sedan driven by another male, heading toward Saratoga High School, according to the sheriff’s office.
She went inside to find that a dark mahogany box containing the ashes of her late husband was missing. Resembling a jewelry box, the 9-by-8-inch box also contained her husband’s death certificate and four silver coins. She informed the sheriff’s office she is willing to forego pressing charges against the suspects if the box with her husband’s ashes is safely returned.
The first suspect was described as a Hispanic male who appeared to be in his late teens, standing at about 5 feet 11 inches and weighing 155 pounds. He had dark hair and was wearing a dark gray jacket with a white T-shirt underneath and jeans.
The second suspect was described as a white male, also in his late teens, standing at 5 feet 8 inches. He appeared to be heavyset, weighing about 180 pounds, and had light brown hair. He was wearing a blue shirt and long tan shorts.
