A stranded boater was rescued Sunday evening by Coast Guard aircrew after his vessel ran out of fuel and drifted into a jetty in the Richmond Inner Harbor, the Coast Guard said.

The Coast Guard received a call from a man aboard a 24-foot recreation vessel around 6:15 p.m. who reported his vessel had run aground on a jetty.

The man was hoisted by the aircrew and was taken to Stanford Hospital for evaluation, though he was not injured.

The Coast Guard reminds boaters to ensure that their vessels are properly equipped with safety supplies and sufficient fuel.
