San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputies arrested three men Sunday morning who were allegedly involved in the burglary of a construction and rental equipment store near Redwood City.

Deputies responded to a report of a commercial burglary around 6:10 a.m. at AAA Rental, located at 82 Fifth Ave.

Witnesses had reported seeing two men going in and out of the facility before fleeing east on Fifth Avenue in a red four-door sedan, according to the sheriff’s office.

A vehicle matching the description was spotted by a sheriff’s deputy about half an hour later on Main Street. A traffic stop was attempted, but the vehicle reportedly sped onto southbound U.S. Highway 101.

Several deputies pursued the vehicle until it was overtaken at the marsh preserve area of Embarcadero Road in Palo Alto. The sheriff’s office reported recovering numerous items stolen from AAA Rental as well as property lost in prior commercial burglaries in Redwood City and Menlo Park.

Deputies arrested Jonathan Vega, 24, of Modesto; Antonio Martinez, 43, of Modesto; and Manuel Pantoja, 35, of Hughson.
