An 11-year-old girl who was kidnapped from a home in San Jose early this morning has been found safe.
Taylor Vo was safely located at about 1:40 p.m., according to the California Office of Emergency Services, which issued a statewide Amber Alert after the abduction. The alert was canceled once Taylor was found safe.
State officials and San Jose police were not immediately available to confirm media reports that Taylor’s captor, 42-year-old Tri Truong Le, was shot dead by police.
Taylor was kidnapped at gunpoint around 1:20 a.m. from a home in the 2600 block of Taffy Drive. She is the daughter of Le’s ex-girlfriend.
Police said Le forced his way into the residence and assaulted a family member before firing several shots inside the home.
No one inside the house was struck by the gunfire, police said.
Le then went into Taylor’s bedroom and took her from the home at gunpoint.
Police said Le’s criminal history included domestic violence and driving under the influence.
