Boys & Girls Club fundraiser at Wheel Works

By Khalida Sarwari

The Wheel Works in Saratoga has planned an afternoon of fun and fundraising on Aug. 1 to help raise money for summer and after-school programs and services for kids.

The community event will feature activities with kids from the Boys & Girls Club of Silicon Valley; a meet-and-greet with Sourdough Sam, the mascot from the San Francisco 49ers; prizes and giveaways; and fundraising for Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

This will be one of 10 events across the country to kick off a national partnership between Bridgestone Retail Operations and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

As part of the campaign, titled “Driving Great Futures,” Bridgestone will attempt to raise money to support the more than 4,100 Boys & Girls Clubs that serve nearly 4 million young people annually. One way they’ll be raising money is through the sale of $5 value books that have tire and automotive service savings. All of the funds raised will be donated to the campaign.

The event takes place 11 a.m. to noon Aug. 1 at Wheel Works at 18522 Prospect Road, one of Bridgestone’s 2,200 retail stores.
