A car burned inside the garage of a San Jose home on Wednesday night, but firefighters extinguished the blaze before it spread to the rest of the house, a fire captain said.
A resident called the fire department around 10 p.m. to report a garage fire in the 1300 block of Pernich Court, fire Capt. Mary Gutierrez said.
Firefighters confined the blaze to the garage and had it under control at about 10:35 p.m.
Three people were home at the time the fire started, but they exited the house before firefighters arrived, and were not injured.
The car, however, was destroyed, she said.
Firefighters are investigating the cause of the blaze. Gutierrez said it does not appear to be suspicious.
