CHP urges motorists to slow down

The California Highway Patrol is advising motorists who are not deterred by the wet road conditions to slow down.

CHP Sgt. Trent Cross said that over the holiday weekend, traffic on Bay Area roads was “moderate but heavy” and wet roads did not appear to deter motorists.

Because many accidents are speed-related, motorists are strongly encouraged to keep roads safe by reducing their speed, CHP Sgt. Trent Cross said.

“Allow yourself more time to go where you are going,” Cross advised.

Cross also advised motorists to be courteous to other drivers on the road, always wear a seatbelt and never drive under the influence of alcohol.
