Do the ‘Stroll’ through downtown Saratoga and enjoy some fine wine

Wine lovers in the South Bay will have a chance to unite at the Wine Stroll Experience in the Saratoga Village on May 9.

Sponsored by the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce, the event takes place from 2:30 to 6 p.m. and features local wine, sweet and savory gourmet bites, and raffle and door prizes.

Local wineries will set up tasting sites at 24 businesses along Big Basin Way and at the Saratoga History Museum. According to Saratoga Chamber of Commerce president Pat Martell, similar to last year, participants will have an opportunity to purchase tickets to taste limited release and special edition wines for $5. These tickets will be sold only at the event.

“An optional ‘special tastes’ enables participants to purchase extra tickets to purchase premium limited wine tastes,” said Martell. “These wines are not typically poured at wine stroll events, so this is a great opportunity to sample exceptional wines.”

The wineries participating this year include Aratas Wine, Baccarosa, Baiocci, Bottlejack Cellars, Burrell School, Cetani Vineyards, Charles Usher Wines, Chesbro Wines, Cinnabar Winery, Comanche Cellars, Cooper-Garrod Estate Vineyards, Domaine Eden, Enoteca Five, Fortino Winery, Guglielmo Winery, House Family Vineyards, Left Bend Winery, the Mountain Winery, Roudon Smith, Savannah-Chanelle, Scratch, Ser, Three Arches and Wrights Station.

Aside from the wine, attendees will also be treated to food and music. Some restaurants and tasting rooms will hand out small bites.

Live bands and musicians are scheduled to perform at the Saratoga History Museum, Cinnabar, Claudine’s Wine Experience, Ruthe Roberts Wine Collective, Deja & Co Exquisite Jewels and Stilettos Wine Bar. The lineup includes Rodrigo Teague, Matt Masih, Whiskey Pass Neat and Williams Street.

Attendees will have a chance to win a streaming device from Roku simply by entering their name into a drawing at the Vine Life.

“We sold out last year at 600 and we expect to sell out again this year,” Martell said. The Chamber first held the event in 2011 to promote the merchants and wineries in Saratoga.

Tickets are $40 in advance and $45 on the day of the event, and come with a souvenir wine glass, a signature truffle from Saratoga Chocolates, a wristband and a map listing the pouring station for each winery. Participants must be of legal age; IDs will be checked.
