Three people were displaced following a two-alarm blaze at a San Jose Thai restaurant this morning, a fire spokesman said.
Firefighters responded at about 8:10 a.m. to a kitchen fire at Tee Nee Thai Cuisine, located at 1423 The Alameda, according to San Jose fire Capt. Mary Gutierrez.
The fire was confined to the kitchen and was controlled at 8:54 a.m.
A mother and her two young sons who live in an apartment directly above the restaurant will be temporarily displaced, according to fire Capt. Anthony Melendrez. The American Red Cross responded to assist the family.
PG&E cut the power to the family’s apartment in an attempt to secure the power to the restaurant, Melendrez said. They could not isolate the power to the restaurant because the two utilities are connected, he said.
Gutierrez said the restaurant would be closed for the rest of the day.
No injuries were reported in the fire.
Melendrez said no one was inside the restaurant and that a passerby who saw smoke in the area reported the fire.
A damage estimate for the fire was not immediately available.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
