Hollister man killed in crash Wednesday night identified

Police have identified the victim of a crash in Gilroy on Wednesday night as 20-year-old Jose Bravo.

Bravo, of Hollister, was a passenger in a vehicle that was going south on Camino Arroyo when it slammed into a tree in the 7900 block of Camino Arroyo, near Leavesley Road and U.S. Highway 101, at about 11:20 p.m., police Sgt. Wes Stanford said.

Bravo was transported to Regional Medical Center of San Jose, where he later died.

The crash left the driver, a 19-year-old man also from Hollister, with life-threatening injuries after firefighters extricated him from the vehicle.

As of this afternoon, he was still in the intensive care unit at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center.

Investigators are trying to determine what caused the crash, including whether alcohol or other intoxicants may have been a factor.
