Sheriff’s detectives this week released a sketch of a man suspected of knocking on an elderly man’s door in Saratoga one late night in January and beating him before fleeing, leaving the resident with life-threatening head injuries.
Investigators said a man knocked on the front door of a house in the 12000 block of Parker Ranch Road around 10:55 p.m. on Jan. 19. When the elderly resident opened the door, the suspect began violently assaulting him. He fled when the resident’s wife confronted him and activated an alarm at their home. Deputies promptly responded to the home and searched the neighborhood for the man, but were not able to find him.
The elderly man was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening head injuries, according to the sheriff’s office. As of Feb. 1, he was back at home recovering and his condition was deemed “stable,” though he faces a long recovery, investigators said.
As for the suspect, while he hasn’t yet been identified, the two residents described him as a “clean-cut” white or light-skinned Hispanic man in his mid to late 20s, standing at about 5 feet 11 inches and weighing 175 pounds with an athletic build.
He appears to have acted alone and didn’t take anything from the home.
Investigators are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the man depicted in the sketch. Anyone with information about the identity of this individual or the attempted home invasion in general is asked to contact sergeants Jason Brown or Josh Singleton at 408.808.4500.
