Santa Clara County sheriff’s detectives are continuing to investigate a Feb. 1 robbery at the Bank of the West on Cox Avenue in Saratoga.

That afternoon, a man who appeared to be in his early 30s walked into the bank at 18860 Cox Ave. and demanded money from the teller, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Jose Cardoza. He then fled from the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash and left in a blue Ford station wagon, Cardoza said. The license plate was not recorded by any witnesses.

There was no mention of a weapon and none were seen or used during the robbery, said Cardoza. No injuries were reported.

The robbery was reported to the sheriff’s office at 2:32 p.m.

Cardoza said the robber remains at large. He was described as standing at about 6 feet tall and weighing around 220 pounds. He was either bald or had a shaved head and was wearing jeans and a dark hooded sweatshirt.

Detectives are looking into whether there is surveillance footage that could help them identify the suspect.

“It’s still an open investigation,” Cardoza said. “They’ll be working to identify the suspect and get more information in the case.”

The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information to call detectives at 408.808.4500 or the anonymous tip line at 408.808.4431.
