Congratulations are in order for a number of Saratoga students who graduated recently from top-notch universities throughout the state and country or were named to the dean’s list for the fall and spring semesters at their respective schools.
Brian Tsai graduated from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore., with a doctorate in pharmacy.
Vijay Mohan, the son of Saratoga residents Mahal and Sandy Mohan, graduated on May 18 from Pomona College in Claremont with a bachelor of arts degree in economics. Mohan is a alum of Archbishop Mitty High School.
Saratoga High alum Adam Lawrence Oreglia graduated with a bachelor of science degree in commerce through the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University. Oreglia has been hired by Saratoga Research & Investment Management for an operations management position, according to his mother, Rachel Oreglia.
Avinash Kumar graduated on May 18 with a bachelor of science degree in biomedical engineering and biomechanics from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis.
Sarah J. Destin, daughter of Maureen and Arthur Destin of Saratoga, received a bachelor of arts degree in creative writing from Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y., on May 25.
Melinda Wang, daughter of Jane Kuo of Saratoga, received a bachelor of arts degree in biology and comparative literature from Williams College in Williamstown, Mass., on June 8. During college, Wang participated in Phi Beta Kappa. She graduated magna cum laude and with the highest honors in biology.
Sophia Ann Cooper graduated magna cum laude in May from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. Cooper was also named to the dean’s academic honor list for the fall and spring semesters. To be named to the dean’s list, a student must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.7.
Danielle Elena Fisher received a bachelor of science degree in landscape architecture from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. That school also named Michelle Gargus, who is studying business, and Lauren Mather, who is pursuing studies in the school’s College of Letters and Science, to the dean’s list for the fall semester.
Cory Kingston was named to the University at Albany in Albany, N.Y., dean’s list of distinguished students for the spring semester.
Political science student Kathryn J. Zdankus was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Northeastern University in Boston, Mass. To achieve the dean’s list distinction, students must have a quality point average of 3.5 or greater.
Shriya V. Nagpal was awarded faculty honors for the spring semester at Trinity College in Hartford, Conn.
Amanda Lu made the dean’s list for the fall semester at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, which requires a student to earn a term grade point average of at least 3.5.
Jason Mehta a sophomore majoring in mechanical engineering, was named to the dean’s list for academic excellence for the fall semester at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Mass. Unlike most other universities, WPI defines the dean’s list by the amount of work students complete at the A level in courses and projects and not by grade point average.
