A 26-year-old man is in police custody on suspicion of robbing lottery tickets from a 50-year-old woman Sunday evening in Antioch, police said.

David Thomason allegedly accosted the woman near 2746 W Tregallas Road and stole several lottery tickets that she had just bought from a nearby liquor store, according to the Antioch Police Department.

Thomason ran off with the tickets but was spotted soon after by an officer who happened to be near the scene and had heard a citizen’s report of the robbery, police said.

The officer chased the man through several Antioch neighborhoods before capturing him on the eastbound ramp to state Highway 4.

Witnesses confirmed Thomason as the subject responsible for the robbery, police said. A backtrack of the pursuit route revealed the location where Thomason had disposed of the lottery tickets.

The victim was not harmed during the robbery.
